Mentor Kenosha-Racine on the Radio

Mark Gesner, Ann Pratt and Channel McClellan, UW-Parkside Mentor/Mentee were guests of Dwayne Olson on WDGT (91.9) FM Education Matters on Saturday, December 8, 2007. The upcoming "A Campaign for Mentoring: Leading Pracites in Program Development Conference was the topic of the show. You can listen to an archieved version of the show on the WDGT web site.



Kenosha News featured the Conference on December 6, 2007: "First-of-its-kind conference seeks mentors for youth."



Readers were also informed of the Conference in the December 7, 2007 edition of the Racine Journal Times.

We want to welcome Ann Pratt to Mentor Kenosha-Racine. Ann is a VISTA Member and will be helping to advance the goals of Mentor Kenosha-Racine. Ann's background is in Social Work. She is excited about the opportunity to work with the mentoring community that is being created by Mentor Kenosha-Racine.

A Campaign for Mentoring: Leading Practices in Program Management

Join regional leaders in the mentoring movement as they come together for a conference entitled: "A Campaign for Mentoring: Leading Practices in Program Development." Whether you are an experienced mentor services provider or new to the mentoring field this exciting conference will provide useful resources and training in the areas of energizing and retaining mentors, mentor training, cultural competency issues for mentors, how to start a mentoring program, and more. Keynote speaker Joellen Gonder-Spacek, a national leader in the mentoring field, will provide an overview of recent mentoring developments in the United States and she will focus on the social return on investment of youth mentoring programs. The half day conference, which will also be the kickoff for a regional mentoring campaign, will be held on Friday, December 14 at the Trefoil Oaks Conference Center in Racine, WI. Mentor Kenosha-Racine Update

It has been a busy week in the life of Mentor Kenosha-Racine. I am sure everyone is eagerly awaiting the finalization of the Mentor Kenosha-Racine website, I certainly am! I will post a link for everyone to view as soon as the site is completed (by the end of this week).

Mentor Kenosha & Racine: A Name and A Logo

It's official! The Mentoring project will henceforth be known as "Mentor Kenosha & Racine". Check out our logo!

Hence the creation of this blog. As the coordinator for the Mentoring project of Kenosha and Racine, I will provide updates on the project's progress, post information on upcoming events, and even toss out ideas for feedback. I hope everyone finds this a useful communication tool!
